
Preparing for a Triathlon? 6 Tips to Make Your Race Easier
Summer is here, and with it, the main triathlon events – Czechman, Moraviaman, Ironman… Whether you're making your debut or aiming for a new personal best, good preparation can save you not only precious minutes at the finish line but also give you peace of mind during the race. Check out these 6 things that are really worth keeping under control in your training.
1. Don't Skip Long Rides and Runs
Basic endurance is absolutely crucial for middle and long distances. If you are preparing for a half Ironman and your race will last approximately 5-6 hours, you need to get used to this duration of exertion – both physically and mentally. Long bike rides (2-4 hours) and runs (min. 60 minutes) will help you improve your aerobic capacity, teach you to manage energy, practice nutrition, and adapt your body and mind to the reality of the race. It's not about pace, but about consistency, adaptation, and time spent in Zone 2. This is where the foundation is built.
